In France to attend a key climate conference, President Joko Widodo on Monday also made time to meet Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, to discuss the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) project in Jakarta as well as work on a deep sea port.
The Dutch-run NCICD project is meant to provide a comprehensive solution for Jakarta’s flood problems, including by addressing sanitation and water supply issues. A key aspect of the project is the construction of a seawall.
Joko wants work on the project to be intensified, according to a statement on the Cabinet Secretariat’s website, and he also expressed his wish to continue cooperation on the deep sea port project.
The Dutch promised to send a team to Jakarta to discuss the matter, and Rutte himself is also scheduled to visit Indonesia next year.
